New Projects in Guinea

Stop for the One is first and foremost about sharing the good news of Jesus and His love. Our call is to serve children all over the world who are destitute, lost, broken, and forgotten through sponsorship programs.

Children’s Center Update

Our Iris Guinea Center is located in Conakry, Guinea and is run by our amazing Center Director, Sia! Our Iris Guinea Center is home to 25 + children and operates a variety of programs to reach their local community with the love of Jesus. This region of the world has suffered greatly from the long term effects of the Ebola crisis as many children have been orphaned and even shunned from their community.

Because of support of our sponsors, we have been able to expand our center and add the House of Hope, our new children’s home! Our Center Director, Sia, started taking children into her home and quickly realized the need for a larger home to take care of the children in need in her community. The team has been praying for land and finances to build family style housing large enough to accommodate all the children God sends their way. God has answered all of our prayers and they were able to start construction on their new Iris center including a much needed children’s home! We are so grateful to those who contributed towards making this happen. God is doing a new thing!

Community Programs

Our teams, full of the love of God, look to bring love, joy, and peace to hurting hearts. However, as we reach out to the spiritually poor we are confronted by their physical poverty as well and it would be an incomplete Gospel if we didn’t stop and put our faith into action.

Hope Families is a Community Program run by the Guinea Center and is similar to foster care. Local church members care for the orphans in their community and the Iris Guinea Center covers the cost of education and some basic expenses. This program allows children to stay in a family home and receive the care and attention they need.

Guinea Feeding Program (2).jpg

The Iris Guinea Feeding Program reaches out to local children and invites them for a meal and to hear a Bible story. It is a time to share the Gospel and God’s love with them, listen to what is on their hearts, and to pray with them if they ask. They are connected with local churches and pastors who help disciple the children. We are so thankful for those who make this outreach possible by donating to our Community Project!

Classroom Sponsorship: Hope Academies

The Iris Guinea Center is starting an educational program! We are so pleased to be able to add them to our Classroom Sponsorship Program. There are many children who have been shunned from their communities due to the Ebola crisis and aren’t enrolled in the schools. These children, who can not afford school fees, were left to play on the streets all day. However, they are now settling down to learn with great dedication and enthusiasm! Our Center Director, Sia, has organized educational lessons for these children in her community church buildings so they can learn basic skills and eventually go to school. We are excited to equip children of all ages with the education they deserve!

Each of the Classrooms have their own names that reiterate the theme of God’s goodness and hope. They are so appropriately named: Love, Joy and Peace!
