I just signed up to sponsor a child. Now what?
Thank you! We are so excited to have you as a part of our Stop for the One family. Within the next month, you will receive a welcome packet with a picture of your child and more information about the program. Make sure to keep you login information (username and password) in a safe and accessible place. Once you sign up for sponsorship you can sign into your account and send your child a message! You can like our Stop for the One Page on Facebook, as we often share stories and updates from our Bases. You will also be signed up for our Center Sponsor newsletter in which we share stories and testimonies specifically from our Center Children’s lives. Once a year we send out an updated picture of your child along with a card or drawing done by your child!

WHAT IS YOUR CHILD PROTECTION POLICY?
As the child sponsorship program for Iris Global, we are unwaveringly committed to the safety and protection of children, vulnerable communities, and anyone serving in our ministry. Iris Global has zero tolerance for incidents of abuse against children and other people in the communities we serve, either committed by our staff or others connected with our work. We abhor any misuse of power, status, or trusted position for any sexual or other exploitive purposes. We endeavor to expose and root out opportunities for abuse in our prevention and training efforts. Continuous improvement of safeguarding efforts, which emphasizes prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse is an ongoing effort in order to achieve the highest standards of protection. Visit www.irisglobal.org/about/child-protection to download our Child Protection Policy.

DOES MY GIFT IMPACT THE COMMUNITY?
Your contributions will be used to benefit the individual as well as his/her community. Iris combines the 'Stop for the One' gifts to empower community-based projects that improve the well-being of the center, school or village. Iris Global has learned that one of the most effective ways of helping the children is by bettering the community as a whole. We combine your gifts with those of others, rather than giving them directly to a child. This ensures that individuals in these communities will still benefit from the Iris Stop for the One program.

MAY I VISIT THE CHILD I AM SPONSORING?
We are thrilled when a child meets their loving sponsor in person! A few of our locations do accept vistors. To see if your child is located at a center you can visit, please email us at stopfortheone@irisglobal.org. Because of our dedication to child protection and the complexities of travel arrangements, we need to know of your desire to travel at least 3 months prior to your travel date. As a part of the process, a background check may be required. You will need to apply directly to center you would like to visit and arrange your own travel.
Stop for the One is committed to protecting the security, privacy and dignity of the children whose parents/guardians and village leaders have graciously allowed them to be a part of our child sponsorship programs. Our privacy and protection policies require us to only release limited information about each child. We intentionally withhold this information.
The sponsorship process is contingent upon your agreement, as a donor, that you will NOT in any way attempt to contact a child, his or her family or community members, in any manner other than that prescribed and permitted in advance in writing by Stop for the One. This is to include, telephone calls or emails outside of the Iris Global 'Stop for the One' Program. Any unplanned visits to the child's residence and community are not permitted without oversight and written permission by Stop for the One. In addition, all letters must be sent to Stop for the One.

HOW can I COMMUNICATE WITH THE CHILD I AM sponsoring?
Yes! You are welcome to send your child messages through our Messaging System online. After you sign up for sponsorship, you can login to your Sponsor Account and select the “Send Message” button next to your child’s picture. You can also Upload a File and send a picture of yourself and your family.
For the protection of our children, sponsors, and staff, we review and monitor all communication between children and sponsors. The messages are reviewed to make sure that there is no inappropriate content. We do not allow any communication with children outside of our Stop for the One Program. Please do not attempt to Skype or connect with you child via social media. -
MAY I SEND MY CHILD A PACKAGE?
We absolutely understand that you may want to send your child a package, but we kindly request that you do not send anything. The postal service is very unreliable and it can easily get lost or stolen. Our Centers usually have to pay a 40% tax on the cost of the item simply to receive it. Sponsorship covers a birthday gift and christmas gift for our center and community children. We also do our best to purchase as much as we can within the communities we are working in as we want to support the local economy.

MAY I GIVE TO MY CHILD'S BIRTHDAY OR CHRISTMAS?
You are welcome to give towards the Christmas Celebration at the Center where your child lives at! On Christmas all of our children share a special meal and each one receives a gift. We combine all monetary gifts together for Christmas so that each child is celebrated! If you would like to donate to the Christmas celebration at your child’s center, please email or call our office. You can also give towards birthday celebrations. Most of our bases celebrate birthday’s once a month. We combine all monetary gifts together for birthdays at each unique base each month so that every child is celebrated!
